Some time later when Frisk falls into the Underground during the game's Genocide route, Frisk's Determination resurrects Chara into a demonic entity capable of possessing them once they have committed enough acts of violence. Chara, whose soul is now in Asriel, uses the opportunity to attempt to slaughter humanity in an act of revenge, but is stopped by Asriel, who resists and is fatally wounded, but not before returning to the underground with Chara's body.
